These are stellar headphones. They don’t cancel noise at all that’s important to understand. They’re ‘open back’ headphones which means someone sitting next to you can hear everything you can. But if you’re using them to listen in a quiet room they sound absolutely stunning. Beyond that they’re also very comfortable. I wear glasses and finding comfortable headphones is sometimes a problem but I can wear these for hours with no pinching or pain.EDIT: The comfort does depend on the glasses as long as your glasses sit fairly close to the side of your head these will be comfortable. If your glasses stick out then no headphones will be really comfortable.Make sure you’re paying attention to the ohms as well. The 250 ohm version of these will need an amp to run properly. The 80 ohms should be fine with your phone or laptop though an amp might still be preferable. There are a 32 ohm set of these which would work with nearly anything.

I bought these at the same time as a set of HIFIMAN H4XX. I also had the Beyerdynamic 770 Pro and the 880 Premium to compare to at the same time. The DT 990 pro and 770 sound fairly close but the 770 has a shouty sound in the midrange maybe due to the closed back making that choice easy. When compared to the 880 I just felt the 990 had more detail at least brand new out of the box. The 880 sounded dull although maybe that would have changed with some run-in time.In the end I bought the 990 Pro because I felt they would be a good laid-back sounding headphone for metal and anything where I would want a lot of bass (they are a bit bass heavy). I don’t wind up using them too much though because the H4XX are just better almost always. I still don’t regret the purchase cause they are nice in their own right.

Decided to get a pair of quality headphones for a music writing course – because I’m doing it on an ipad and the speakers on those are not helpful – and decided to go for this which is open compared to the 770/880 which are closed/semi open. I enjoy sr80s which are open so I’d imagine it would be the same for beyers.My first impressions of these headphones were so-so bass was a bit weak mids sound forward. Didn’t have the shine that grados had. That’s the ipad’s headphone out being a bit crappy. Once I connected my audio interface to the ipad this pair definitely sounded much better with slightly improved bass response and I could hear more detail in the highs. It is pretty obvious if you wanted something to listen with that has alot of bass this probably ain’t your jam.In actual use though I was quite surprised by how well my “mix” translated to my JBL 305P (originals). The mid and highs were where I wanted them and the low end which sounded pretty tight (in a good way) on the phones were giving my chest a good thumping on the speakers.Do note that on the ipad I’m using TB Morphit to correct for flaws in the headphone. Unlike the grados I have these are not fatiguing to me and I used them for hours on end and they don’t build up moisture. The clamping force is a little bit on the side of too much but the soft padding mitigates most of that.Pretty chuffed so far and I look forward to using them down the road.

The audio quality is fantastic. Nothing but positive impressions. Comfort is great with beautiful contact points. The ear covers feel fantastic and the headband has a beautiful leather I guess cover.Considering the price I am disappointed in the cheap & nasty useless carry bag and the plastic “open” backs to the cans.I also have the Aventho Wireless headsets which do have a nicer bag and less plastic and frankly look like a better quality build. On the positive experience of the Aventho I stuck with Beyerdynamics.Would I recommend them? Yes.For the price I would have thought bundling the headphones with a better bag or the optional case which I’ve now ordered would make sense. Why skimp on such quality headphones?
