As of January 2019:-Out of the box they are basically unusable as 2% volume is already pretty loud and past 10% your neighbors can’t hear their own TV.-After the installation of firmware 122.1.21 you can now use the volume slightly better but you still need to use a software amplifier to reduce loudness by 20DB to be even able to use them! But that’s not all! Logitech software forces Windows to think it’s a 7.1 system so in video games you will only hear what is ahead of you if someone stands beside you you will not hear a thing as only 2 channels are active.-After the installation of firmware 122.1.22 you no longer have to use software amplifier to reduce loudness BECAUSE THERE IS NO BASS ANYMORE!Logitech has released this 2 years ago and they are still not working properly!!!Side note:They do sound amazing when you’re listening to the music with software amlplifier set to -20DB. But would your really pay £200 for that?

I mostly review products when I make a discovery that gives me buyers remorse. In this case finding out that connecting these via USB to a Windows 10 PC gives an utterly insane volume level. I don’t just mean that they’re loud I mean they’re unusable unless you live alone in the middle of a large field and wear ear protectors. To get to a volume level equivalent to a typical listening volume required going to volume level 2 in Windows. A cursory online search led to realisation that this is a widely-reported problem which Logitech has yet to issue a fix for. Apparently connecting via 35mm gives a more manageable volume range (rather than going from ‘loud’ to ‘deafening’) but that means you can no longer use the lighting features. Workarounds are possible – I’ve created a custom EQ setting in the Logitech gaming software with all the levels dropped to their minimum which makes things manageable without a noticeable drop in quality but it’s not ideal. Fingers crossed Logitech issue some sort of fix soon.Other than that these are great speakers. Weighty solid construction and gorgeous design. The bass is incredibly powerful but it’s down-firing so something to be aware of if you have anyone living below you. Despite not being a fan of the current RGB craze the range of lighting modes mean you can probably find a way to enjoy them that works for you. I can imagine the audio visualiser being particularly at parties though I find it to always be a split-second behind the music.In short – The only thing that keeps these from being truly great speakers is the volume control issue.
