Remarques liminairesJ’ai une vieille carte mère (2013) MSI Z77A G45 en 1155 et je savais qu’il serait hors de question de booter sur le disque installé sur le PCie compte tenu de l’âge du bios mais ce n’était pas le but.J’ai acheté cette carte adaptateur PCIE NVME pour constater par moi même la rapidité de ces fameux disques NVME en l’occurrence un Samsung 970 Evo NVME 2280 de 500 Go. Les prix ayant baissé allons y.Je n’ai pas été déçu de la manœuvre.J’ai installé en deux temps trois mouvement le SSD M.2 sur la carte et la carte sur un emplacement Pcie. Je n’ai pas utilisé le radiateur fourni.J’ai rebooté mon PC un Core I7 de 2013 je suis rentré dans le bios j’ai redémarré en serrant les dents pour voir si Windows 10 allait reconnaitre le Samsung NVME. Bingo montage de la partition formatage clonage du disque système pour apprécier.Une photo vaut mieux qu’un long discours et je ne veux pas vous gaver de chiffres mais j’ai été soufflé j’ai comparé mon disque système un SSD Samsung 860 Evo 500 Go avec le Samsung 970 Evo Nvme 500 Go.Voir photos les performances sur cette carte Pcie sont 5 à 6 fois supérieures en moyenne au SSD sur SATA 6GbitsJ’étais perplexe je ne le suis plus.Ma charmante épouse m’a demandé mais à quoi ca sert finalement tout ce matériel ?J’ai répondu je n’en sais rien mais ca marche c’est l’essentiel. Elle est repartie en haussant les épaules et en marmonnant n’oublie pas que c’est à toi de vider le lave vaisselle ce soir. 😉

Used this in pcie 2.0 slot to extend life of old pc. Works fine. A single NVME card uses only 4 lanes (x4) so other sellers x16 cards give no extra benefit. Maximum performance in pcie 2 slot is about half whats seen with 3.0 still noticably faster than sata ssd. These cards do little more than physically connect the nvme card to the pcie bus so any technical issues will be the motherboard/nvme card.If you want to boot from this you need bios support for nvme you may need to upgrade your bios (or in my case mod it ;)). If just adding an extra drive you just need nvme drivers for your operating system.If buying to add additional nmve drives to increase performance check how your motherboard assigns lanes for pcie. Adding cards can reduce lanes for other devices (eg other nvme drives or your gfx card) so worth checking if the slot you intend using will impact performance elsewhere. This tends to be in the small print of your motherboard’s tech specs.None of this relates to the quality of the card which is excellent.

Why do I need this?5.0:
Works great no issues. I have this installed on one of my PCIe ports (Gen 3 x4) of my old Dell T3600 workstation. Fitted a 1 TB WD SN570 NVMe drive and it works at full speed. I get a peak of over 3 GB/s.Only qualm is that the securing screw was already installed and was far far too tight. Almost stripped it trying to loosen it ready for my drive. Had to use pliers and undo it that way.For anyone wondering I use this with the NVMe as my boot drive. I installed Clover bootloader onto a small M2 card inside a cheap USB adapter. Plugged that into my internal USB port on the motherboard. Changed boot to UEFI in BIOS. Booted via Clover and installed Windows via recovery USB and restarted. System now boots from the NVMe device and I didn’t lose an external USB port. Total boot time is about 40 seconds 35 of which are getting through POST. So a5 second windows boot all thanks to this card a good drive Clover and a bit of tinkering

I was surprised to see Sandisk controller on this adapter it works like charm. I have attached to it WD M2 SSD and works out of the box no issue at all. The SSD drive temperature (after attached the heatsink) is between 37c-41c it’s not as claimed by the manufacturer as 5c-20c; usually safe operating temperature is between 0c-70c. So for normal workload 30c-49c is ok and 50c-70c for heavy workload also considered to be fine as well. In short this is an excellent choice for PCIe m2 NVMe SSD it’s durable and well made and works without any issue. Hope this review help someone to decide whether or not to purchase this product.

Foolishly I assumed that if I had this adapter with a PCIe 4.0 drive then I would get PCIe 4.0 speeds on an older motherboard (in my case Intel Z390 chipset) but this wasn’t the case – the M2 SSD drive capable of 7GBps read/write topped out at 3.6GBps with this adapter – I guess 3.6GBps is the limit of the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot but the description stating it supports PCIe 4.0 is confused and misleading – I’m sure some will say its obvious that my motherboard PCIe slot wouldn’t provide sufficient bandwidth for PCIe 4.0 drives. but I think the product description needs to be clearer that motherboard PCIe4.0 support is required for this drive to support PCIe 4.0 speeds as its just a pass-thru of whatever PCIe slot its plugged into! Oh and it has a really annoying red LED which continually slow flashes (not related to activity just once a second on/off/on/off) – not configurable can’t turn it off. Returned for a refund due to the PCIe speed issue (not the silly red LED).
