I was running Omada Controller software for a while and finally decided to buy the device. I have different APs including EAP245 v1. Got the controller got it installed migrated the configuration from the old one. That worked great. Then I have noticed that there was a newer firmware available. Upgraded to that tried to restore the configuration – ooops “your EAP245 v1.0 is not supported bye-bye”. So TP-Link has decided that a pretty recent and quite up-to-date TP-Link AP should no longer be supported and you learn about it only after you upgrade. I would never expect that from any respectable manufacturer but I guess TP-Link is different.I was able to manually downgrade the firmware to get all of my APs working.I regret investing in TP-Link devices I should have gone with Ubuquiti instead. This is my last TP-Link device I purchased unless they reintroduce the support for their older APs back.

The marketing material says that this router supports OpenVPN but it does not. A separate device called the Omada Controller is necessary to get OpenVPN working and then still MANY basic features like setting the VPN DNS server are totally missing. Returned this product

I had bought this because I wanted to manage all EAP245 and switches using a single interface.1. The concept is good2. You can manage upto 100 EAP and switches3. You would need to buy Omada-supported switches with PoE. I couldn’t find it in the local or online market but Tp-Link support arranged one from Mumbai.4. It doesn’t have a power supply as it takes power from PoE. Make sure you have a PoE switch or need to buy an external LAN/PoE converter.5. Supports only the managed switch is obviousNow my entire network can be managed in one place and even if I am outside of the office. I can access the entire office network from anywhere.

SFP port on this TL-7206 router does NOT fully support VLANS for things like IPTV or phone service. Manufacturer has zero intention of correcting this even after escalation. I thought upgrading their software and firmware might solve this (silly naive me) but it most certainly does not.
